ISLAMABAD, Aug 19: Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Amanullah Khan Jadoon has said Pakistan’s oil and gas sector is completely open to local and foreign investors.

He was talking to a delegation of the China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corporation (CPECC) which called on him here on Friday and exchanged views on investment opportunities in the oil and gas sector.

The federal minister invited the CPECC to participate in the forthcoming cross-border gas pipeline projects, construction of gas storage facilities and exploration activities for mutual advantage.

The Chinese delegation, led by CPECC Executive Director Ms Zhoung, briefed the minister about the China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corporation’s oil and gas activities worldwide.

The CPECC representatives said the firm had already participated in the construction of Parco White Pipeline (WOPP) from Karachi to Mehmood Kot (Muzaffargarh), and also offered bids for construction of oil pipeline from Lahore to Taro Jabba near Peshawar.

Mr Jadoon welcomed the Chinese petroleum companies participation in the oil and gas development activities and hoped that it would open up new avenues of bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries.

He briefed the Chinese delegation about the upcoming oil and gas development projects including the construction of gas storage facilities, coastal oil refinery, cross-border pipeline and coal gasification projects.
