Three told to leave German state

MUNICH, Aug 18: Three activists of the Tablighi Jamaat were ordered to leave the German state of Bavaria on Thursday as part of a crackdown on ‘hate preachers’. The state interior ministry told the two Bosnians and a Moroccan to leave by Sept 10 or risk arrest and deportation, on the grounds that their organization had promoted Islamic extremism.

Bavaria accuses the group of trying to undermine Germany’s democratic system and radicalize Muslims. Security officials also believe that international terror organizations recruit operatives from the movement’s ranks.

The ministry in Munich said Bavaria had expelled 16 terror suspects and alleged extremists since late last year and issued another 26 expulsion orders, 10 of which were expected to be executed shortly.—AFP
