Traffic plan for railway station

Published August 19, 2005

LAHORE, Aug 18: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has approved the railway station traffic improvement plan submitted by the Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency.

The agency will implement the plan in a year.

Tepa has proposed turning of McLeod Road stretch from Qila Gujjar Singh Baghichi Chowk to the Lahore railway station Park Chowk a dual carriageway to allow the motorists to move straight to the Baghichi Chowk instead of reaching it via railway station, Boharwala Chowk and Naulakha Church Chowk. The new arrangement would reduce traffic load significantly and discourage encroachments on McLeod Road footpaths by motorcycle dealers.

Tepa will also redesign the bus bays in front of the railway station and Boharwala and Naulakha Church crossings for streamlining traffic flow.
