Aleem to stand in fourth Test

LONDON, Aug 17: ICC Elite Panel umpire Aleem Dar will replace Billy Bowden as on-field umpire for fourth Ashes Test at Trent Bridge between Australia and England. Aleem missed second Test of the series to be in Pakistan with his wife following the premature birth of their baby boy. Both mother and baby are now doing well, enabling Aleem to return to England for the fourth Test where he will stand with Steve Bucknor.

Bowden, who replaced Aleem in the second Test at Edgbaston, would otherwise have been standing in four consecutive matches during the series. He remains one of the two on-field umpires for the fifth Test at The Oval along with Rudi Koertzen.

This means that Aleem will no longer be standing in forthcoming ODI matches in Zimbabwe. His scheduled appointments will now be undertaken by South African umpire Ian Howell who is on ICC International Panel.—Agencies
