Singapore firm apologizes for wrong map

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Aug 17: Singapore-based firm IBC Asia has formally apologized to Pakistan for publishing a wrong map of the country in its brochure on a conference it is organizing on Pakistan’s infrastructure development projects in Islamabad next month.

“Please accept my sincere apologies on behalf of IBC for this mistake,” the firm’s representative, David Chiiarucci Lee, said in a letter to the Board of Investment (BoI).

Dawn had pointed out that the firm used the Indian version of Pakistan’s map minus the portions of occupied Kashmir in its invitation brochure.

The IBC Asia also regretted featuring the president of Pakistan as the keynote speaker in the brochure without his consent.

“We admit that we should have cleared the brochure, including the map, with the government of Pakistan before its publication,” said the firm.

It also apologized for writing a letter directly to the President of Pakistan using language “inappropriate for a head of state.”
