LAKKI MARWAT, Aug 16: Five people were killed in a clash between Paakhel tribesmen and a gang of kidnappers in Lakki Marwat on Tuesday. There was a heavy exchange of gunfire between the two sides which targeted each other’s positions with light and heavy weapons, resulting in the death of three men from the Paakhel tribe, one from the Arsal group and one kidnapped person.

Sources confirmed the killing of three Paakhel tribesmen, who were identified as Ghazi Rehman, Naamdar and Nazar Jan. Two other men were also injured.

The injured men were taken to a hospital in Bannu for treatment.

Sources said that a nephew of Arsala Khan, Mairajuddin, and a man kidnapped by the gang, Reshmeen, were killed in the fighting.

Meanwhile, authorities dispatched a heavy contingent of Frontier Constabulary to the troubled area to arrest Arsala Khan and stop the fighting.

Arsala Khan is wanted by the police in several kidnapping cases, including that of two women of the Marwat tribe.
