KARACHI, Aug 16: The Sindh government has decided to constitute monitoring teams to ensure right functioning of educational institutions in 121 tehsils and 1,110 UCs of Sindh.
A high-level meeting, chaired by Sindh Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman, here on Tuesday also decided that for achieving the objectives behind the idea, the people would be selected on merit from the education department at tehsil levels having good track record and higher qualifications.
These monitoring teams would help implement the government’s strategy towards the promotion of literacy and up gradation of the education system.
Additional Secretary Education Mohammad Iqbal Durani has been assigned the task to finalize and pursue the plan.
The meeting also discussed a wide range of issues which included enrolment in educational institutions, monitoring the quality of education specially at the primary level, the role of school management committees and district coordination officers and executive district officers (education) in promotion of education, incentives for teachers, improvement of the distribution of scholarships among students.
Provincial secretaries (higher education), services and general administration were asked to prepare strategy in the light of the code of conduct devised for the restructuring of the education department and constitution of reforms units. This strategy would later be approved by the higher authorities.
Education Secretary Ghulam Ali Pasha, Secretary Women Development Abdul Subhan Memon, Secretary Services Liaquat Ali, Secretary General Administration and Coordination Abdul Qadir Mangi attended the meeting.—APP
