KARACHI: Man kills wife in Lyari: Hotel-owner kidnapped

KARACHI, Aug 16: A housewife was killed by her husband in Lyari on Tuesday morning. Police said that Mansoor slit throat of his wife Hajra Bibi, 35, while she was asleep in their house in Bihar Colony falling in the limits of the Chakiwara police station.

Police said that victim was mother of five children. Police said that Mansoor was a labourer and reportedly suffering from mental aliment.

However, the suspect has not been arrested by the police.

Police said that victim was five months pregnant. Police said that Mansoor killed his wife sometime Monday night. He cleaned up the blood in the morning and went to his in-laws saying that Hajra died of natural death. However, when the body was seen by the women of the family the incident unfolded.

The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for autopsy.

SUSPECT SHOT DEAD: An alleged suspect was shot dead in what police claimed an encounter with bandits in Orangi Town on Tuesday morning. Three of his accomplices fled.

Police said that four suspects barged in a house of Mohammad Azeem in Orangi Town where marriage ceremony had taken place on Monday night.

The suspects took the inmates hostage at gunpoint and collected cash and valuables from the house.

Meanwhile someone informed the police on helpline 15. As the suspects were fleeing, a police party reached the spot. The police party and the bandits had an exchange of fire, resulting in the death of one suspect while his accomplices fled.

The accused could not be identified by the police immediately; two TT pistols and looted booty were recovered from his possession.

KIDNAPPED: The owner of the Paradise Hotel was kidnapped for ransom by unidentified men on Tuesday, police sources said.

They said Mohammad Hamid left his home in Garden in the morning and did not return. In the afternoon, his brother received a call from anonymous caller who told him that Hamid had been kidnapped. The caller demanded a ransom of Rs10 million for Hamid’s release, the police added.

The victim’s car was found abandoned in the night near the Imam Clinic in North Nazimabad.

KILLED: An unidentified body of a young man was recovered from F.B. Area on Tuesday. Police said that the body bore torture marks; it was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem examination.

DIES: Body of a five-year-old boy was recovered from a storm drain in Korangi on Tuesday.

Police said that the boy identified as Fahadullah, 5, went out of his house in sector 50-B sometime on late Tuesday night.

Police believed that the boy might have fallen in the drain. The family did not carry out legal formalities.
