HYDERABAD, Aug 15: Maoist rebels killed at least 10 people, including a lawmaker and a government official, when they ambushed their vehicle in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh on Monday, police said.
The Maoists triggered a landmine as the vehicle passed, then shot the survivors and lobbed grenades into the jeep, District Superintendent Vikram Singh Mann said.
“The landmine was remote-controlled,” Mr Mann said, adding that legislator C. Narsi Reddy and his followers were returning from independence day celebrations.—Reuters
