FIFA extends deadline

LAHORE, Aug 15: FIFA, the world football governing body, has given a second extension to the contractor for completion of its Goal Project in Pakistan and has now set the new date of Nov 1 in lieu of Sept 1.

The president Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat disclosed this after visiting the under construction project on Monday.

Earlier, the USD 665,000 project was to be completed in July this year but the contractor got an extension without paying the stipulated penalty for delay which was USD 1,000 per day.

However, it was decided while granting the first extension that now the penalty would be USD 2,000 per day. But surprisingly, the president disclosed that FIFA would not impose any penalty for the second delay.

FIFA is providing USD 460,000 while the PFF has to arrange the remaining funds for which the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr Shaukat Aziz had made a promise.—by Our Sports Correspondent
