ANP foresees victory in local polls

Published August 16, 2005

PESHAWAR, Aug 15: The Awami National Party has alleged that the establishment has pushed the Pukhtun population to the wall and resolved to strengthen the struggle for provincial autonomy.

Speaking at rallies held in connection with the local body poll at the Hayatabad Township, Chamkani and Pachaggai localities, ANP leaders Afrasiab Khattak, Bashir Ahmed Bilour and Iftikhar Hussain claimed that the Awami Dost panels would win in all constituencies because of its principled stand on provincial autonomy, war on terrorism and net hydel profit.

Mr Khattak claimed that about 2.3 million Pukhtuns were killed over the past 25 years in Afghanistan under a conspiracy hatched by the establishment. He said the ongoing operation against Al Qaeda was also a plot against the Pukhtun nation.
