LARKANA, Aug 15: The Airport police booked a number of people, including some Awam Dost Panel candidates, on Sunday on charges of firing at PML workers and injuring Mohammed Hassan Tatri.

Those nominated in the FIR included Bashir Tatri, Nasrullah Mangi, ADP candidates for the seat of nazim and naib nazim of Tatri, respectively, Akbar Soomro, Gulab Khan and Roshan Soomro contesting for seats of councillor.

The complainant alleged that ADP candidates and others attacked them while they were sitting in the ‘Autaq’. Mohammed Hassan Tatri received bullet injury. He was admitted to the Taluka Hospital Dokri and an FIR was registered against 10 people. Police on Monday conducted raids to arrest the nominated people but they were not present in the village.

Meanwhile, Bashir Tatri, the candidate for the seat of nazim of the UC, talking to journalists in Dokri on Monday, termed the attack a concocted story and said that all was being done to pressurize them to change loyalties. He alleged that Sindh minister Altaf Unnar was behind the plan.

The PPP leaders in Larkana on Monday alleged that ADP candidates were being kept away from the election by registering fake cases against them. In a press statement, Muhib Magsi, spokesman for PPP Larkana, said recently a kidnapping case against Barakt Awan, an ADP candidate for the seat of nazim from union council-4 (Larkana City), had been registered.—Correspondent
