NAWABSHAH, Aug 15: Police on Sunday booked more than 50 supporters of the PPP-backed Awam Dost Panel, including a candidate for the post of nazim. It is learnt that Mohammad Raheem Kumbhar, a candidate of the PML-backed Awami Ittehad, lodged an FIR under section 506/2, 147, 124A of the PPC against Abdul Khaliq Magsi, candidate of nazim of the Awam Dost Panel from Sakrand union council-II, Adnan Magsi, Munir Magsi, Zulfiqar Magsi, Mohammad Raheem Magsi, Akhtar Bhatti and 50 unidentified persons.
Mr Kumbhar said that the accused came on motorcycles and cars and raised slogans against the government and torn banners of the Awami Ittehad.
Police arrested Abdul Khaliq Magsi, Adnan Magsi and Munir Magsi.
MNA Dr Azra Pechuho and MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio said ADP candidates were being pressurized through police and anti-corruption but they would not change their loyalty and the ADP would win with a majority on Aug 25 despite victimization of the Sindh government.
POLLING STAFF: A total number of 8,018 polling staff will perform election duties in 51 union councils of the district in the second phase of local body elections on Aug 25.
According to the DRO, 133 polling stations and 473 polling booths were setup in 13 union councils of the Nawabshah taluka where 133 presiding officers, 1,419 assistant presiding officers and 473 polling officers would perform duties.
In 14 union councils of the Daur taluka, 145 polling stations and 491 polling booths were formed where 145 presiding officers, 1,473 assistant presiding officers and 491 polling officers were deputed.
About 125 polling stations and 451 polling booths were formed in 12 union councils of the Sakrand taluka where 125 presiding officers, 1,353 assistant presiding officers and 451 polling officers were deputed for election duties. A total number of 127 polling stations and 457 polling booths were formed in 12 union councils of the Daulatpur taluka where 127 presiding officers, 1,371 assistant presiding officers and 457 polling officers were deputed.
