KARACHI: ST demands elections under army

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Aug 15: The Sunni Tehreek chief, Maulana Iftikhar Ahmad Bhatti, has reiterated its demand for free, fair, and peaceful elections under the supervision of army. Speaking at a press conference on Monday, the ST chief said the flag march by the army would be meaningless if army personnel were not posted inside the polling stations for ensuring transparent voting process.

He said that if the provincial government and its coalition party did not stop intervention in the polls process, precious loss of life could not be stopped. Maulana Bhatti warned that if the killers of Maulana Abdul Karim Naqshbandi, who was a candidate for Nazim of UC-2 in Lyari Town, and other activists were not arrested and justice was not done, his party would launch a massive campaign after Aug 18.
