Narrow victory for Zone-V Whites

KARACHI, Aug 13: Good bowling by spinners Mohammad Wasim and Osama Basharat guided Zone-V Whites to a thrilling 10-run victory over Zone-II Greens in the KCCA Under-17 Inter-zonal cricket tournament at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground on Friday.

Slow left-armer Wasim bagged four for 42 and Osama, the off-spinner, took three for 35 as Zone-II Greens were dismissed for 116. Earlier off-spinner Mohammad Zohaib captured seven for 58 to send Zone-V Whites crashing to 126 all out.

In another match, played at the Pak Star Ground, Zone-IV Whites easily defeated Zone-I Blues by eight wickets.

Zone-V Whites beat Zone-II Greens by 10 runs.

ZONE-V WHITES 126 in 47.5 overs (Umair Aslam 35, Azhar Zaman 30, Zeeshan Rahim 30; Mohammad Zohaib 7-58); ZONE-II GREENS 116 in 48.2 overs (Irfan Lodhi 28; Mohammad Wasim 4-42, Osama Basharat 3-35).

Zone-IV Whites beat Zone-I Blues by eight wickets.

ZONE-I BLUES 110 in 32.4 overs (Owais Asghar 30; M. Jawwad Khan 4-37, Shahzaib Khan 3-31, Masoom Ali 2-23); ZONE-IV WHITES 111-2 in 33.3 overs (Hasan Javed 43, Yasir Munir 26 not out, M. Jawwad Khan 21 not out; Mohammad Farhan 2-46).
