BSO and JWP call off hunger strike

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, Aug 13: The Baloch Students Organization (BSO) and Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) have called off their 11-day hunger strike unto death following the production of three arrested activists before the court.

Speaking at a press conference in the press club on Saturday, Dr Imdad Baloch, chairman of the BSO (United), announced that the protest of the long march to governor’s house on Sunday has been deferred till Sept 10.

He said the fast unto death of Sohrab Baloch (BSO) and Ghaffar Sasoli (JWP) from August 2 till Saturday was not confined to the arrest of Dr Allah Nazar, Akhtar Nadeem Baloch and Ali Nawaz Baloch but it covered the detention of all Baloch political activists.

Dr Imdad claimed that we have confirmed from journalists in Sadiqabad in Punjab that BSO activists arrested in Karachi on March 24 were produced before the magistrate in Sadiqabad on Friday and they have been given to police for remand for four days.

The BSO chairman further said that our protest for Aug 14 and 18 has been deferred till Sept 10 to give time to the government to produce other political activists, including Ali Asghar Bungulzai, Jan Mohammad Marri, Gohram and Saleh before the court by that time.

He warned that if the government failed to fulfil the legal procedure by releasing the unlawful detainees or framing formal charges against the detainees within the aforementioned period than they would be left with no alternative but to re-start the protest movement from Sept 11.

Meanwhile, Ghulam Jailani, the 14-year-old son of detained Ali Asghar Bungulzai talking to newsmen in separate press conferences announced that he along with his two brothers and a sister would join the token hunger strike from Saturday for their father’s release.
