Aqeel, Asim in doubles semis

KARACHI, Aug 12: Aqeel Khan and Asim Shafiq advanced into the semifinal after beating Iranian pair in the quarterfinal of double’s event in Iran F1 Fixture Tennis at Tehran. According to the details made available on Friday, Aqeel and Asim outclassed Ahmadvand and Hasani of Iran 6-2, 6-2 in straight sets.

They will now take Kuwaiti pair of Al Ghareeb and Magdas in the semifinal. In other semifinal Ballaret (Monaco) and Morel (France) will play against Iranian pair of Shahgholi and Shokoofi.

Earlier, Aqeel and Asim made first round exits against Iran’s Anoosha Shahgholi and Mohammad Al Ghareeb (Kuwait) in The first round of singles event. Shahzad was the only Pakistani winner in the event’s first round. He defeated Iran’s Abdollah Moini in straight sets.—PPI
