Razia betters own mark

ISLAMABAD, Aug 11: Razia Sultana created a new hammer throw national mark during trials held on Thursday to pick Pakistan team for the Asian Athletics Championships and Islamic Women’s Games.

With a throw of 45.03, Razia bettered her own record of 40.91 which she set in Quetta last year. She was clearly a standout on the first day of trials that took place at the Jinnah Stadium.

The Asian Championships will be held in Incheon (S. Korea) from Sept 1-4 while the Islamic Games take place in Tehran from Sept 22-28.

Results: Hammer throw: Razia Sultana 45.03 (NR), Asma Hamid 34.68, Mehwish Rashid 31.49 100 metres: Madiha Latif 12.31, Naseem Hamid 12.70, Sadaf Siddiqui 12.74, Rabia Akram 13.52 800 metres: Bushra Parveen 2:13.75, Rozina Shafqat 2:32.23 1500 metres: Sumaira Zahoor 4:46.97.
