GUJRAT, Aug 11: The Sadar police on Thursday registered two cases on different charges against as many nazim candidates and arrested them. The first FIR was lodged by Jalalpur Jattan city police under sections 420, 468, 471 and 464 against Mir Anjum Rasheed of UC 63/4. The complainant of the case is Mir Iftikhar who is also a nazim candidate from the same UC and belongs to the ruling PML.

Iftikhar alleged his rival candidate Mir Anjum submitted to the returning officer a fake document showing ownership of his land.

The second FIR was lodged under Sections 11-AOB3 Amplifier Act/Wall Chalking Act and 506/337 H2 by Jalalpur Jattan Saddar police against Abdur Rahman of Noora Mandiala UC. The case was registered on the complaint of the SHO concerned. The complainant alleged the candidate violated the code of conduct by using loudspeaker, displaying weapons and threatening his rival candidate with dire consequences during a public meeting in Ladha Sadha village.

The police have arrested both candidates.— Correspondent
