Former LRC steward dies

LAHORE, Aug 10: A former steward of the Lahore Race Club (LRC) and once a leading horse-owner of the city, Khawaja Hamid Saeed died here after a protracted illness. He was 75.

Khawaja Hamid Saeed was elected LRC steward for the first time in 1974.

He remained steward for fifteen terms till 1994-95. He was a great lover of horses and connoisseur of horse racing. He owned a string of high pedigree horses.

Saeed became envy of every horse-owner when his horses won all classic races and the Pakistan Derby thrice, the last time through bay filly High Again in 1976.

He retired from racing in 1995.
