PESHAWAR, Aug 10: Sailkot and St John’s Cathedral Church advanced to next round of the All-Pakistan basketball tournament at Edward’s College on Wednesday. Sailkot ousted Taxila 66-53 in the opening match. The winners’ Faisal Jackap, Anil Shamus, Danial, Adeel, Zeeshan and Jani Walter showed excellent play with some beautiful baskets.

Faisal top-scored with 37 individual baskets with five three pointers from distance, while Anil made 21 baskets with three, three pointers.

Romail made 22 individual baskets with five three pointers and Nahir Ilyas scored 11 individual baskets with two three pointers for the losers.

The other match saw St John’s defeating Mission Hospital 43-26. The winners’ Shakeel Pervez scored 17 individual baskets with three, three pointers. Simon Walter also played well and scored 14 individual baskets including two three pointers.

The losers’ Babar made 10 individual baskets followed by Imran Kabir with seven individual baskets.

The participating teams have been placed in groups ‘A’ and ‘B’. The Group ‘A’ has Sargodha, Lahore, St John’s Cathedral Church and Mission Hospital, Peshawar while the Group ‘B’ comprises Sialkot, Taxila and Faisalabad.—APP
