Anti-polio drive in AJK


MIRPUR, Aug 10: A three-day anti-polio drive was inaugurated by the Azad Jammu and Kashmir health minister in a ceremony held at Dadayal on Tuesday. The AJK health department have arranged 667,000 doses of vaccine for three days to vaccinate around 564,000 children in the valley.

A total of 2,179 paramedical teams were formed to go door to door to vaccinate children, while 327 fixed units and 117 transit points were established, at prominent public places to facilitate parents in all the eight districts of Azad Kashmir.

The total staff involved in the drive is over 4,000 while it would cost over Rs500,000 to the government.

The parents were asked to cooperate with the visiting paramedic teams at their homes. It was pointed out that no case of polio was detected in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.—APP
