QUETTA, Aug 10: The district of Quetta has been divided into 23 sectors for holding local body elections and a first class magistrate will be the sector in-charge with judicial powers.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held here on Wednesday. Caretaker Administrator and city DCO Rio Shakeel Ahmed presided over the meeting.

The meeting decided that senior officers from the Frontier Corps and police would help the in-charge to ensure security of polling stations.

The in-charge would be responsible for ensuring presence of all polling staff at stations in time.

Law-enforcement forces, including police, levies and personnel of the Frontier Corps would be deployed at all the polling stations and there would a complete ban on entry of people other than the election staff into polling stations for women.

The sectors in-charge would send polling staff to their destinations under supervision of personnel of law-enforcement agencies. They would also be responsible for sending the ballot boxes and polling staff back to the offices of returning officers.
