KARACHI: Foundation laid for bridge

KARACHI, Aug 9: Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad said that all ongoing uplift schemes in the city would be completed in the next two years so that people could benefit from them at the earliest.

Talking to newsmen after the foundation stone laying ceremony of Malir River Bridge connecting Shah Faisal Colony with Korangi on Tuesday, he said that various public welfare and development projects in the city were in doldrums due to the indifferent attitude of the past governments.

Dr Ibad said that the project would be completed in 24 months at an estimated cost of Rs1,057.017 million. He said that work on the project was already underway since June 20.

He said that a link road between Shah Faisal Colony and Korangi was the old demand of the people of both localities.

He said that construction of roads and flyovers were prerequisite to cope the traffic problems of Karachi. He said if needed other link-roads would also be constructed in other parts of the city.—APP
