KARACHI: Warrant against SSP activist

KARACHI, Aug 8: An Anti-Terrorism Court in Karachi on Monday issued non-bailable warrants against an activist of the banned Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan, facing charges of spreading sectarian hatred.

Qari Abdul Rehman Maawia was shown an absconder in the case.

Two activists of the banned outfit Abdul Ghaffar and Ali Akbar are facing trial under anti-terrorism laws.

The copies of statements of prosecution witnesses were supplied to defence counsel Maqboolur Rehman. ATC, headed by Judge Feroz Mehmood Bhatti, fixed Aug 20 for indictment of the accused.

Police said the accused were arrested from Gulshan-i-Hadeed, and were booked under Section 295-A/34 of PPC and Section 8/9 of Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 at Steel Town police station.

PLEA REJECTED: Justice Musheer Alam of the Sindh High Court on Monday rejected the bail application of Asad Ali, 12, who was booked in a sodomy case.

According to prosecution, accused committed un-natural act with a five-year-old Zeeshan Gul. The bail plea of the accused was, earlier, rejected by a lower court.—PPI/APP
