LAHORE, Aug 6:A six-event ticklish card has been drawn for the Lahore Summer Meeting to be held at the Racecourse on Sunday. All races will be contested over the sprinting distance of 1000m except the opener to be gone over 900m.
The feature event of the card, the Mangora Plate, a class IV division I & II combined handicap race has nine acceptors barring last-minute withdrawals. Of them three come into reckoning on their recent form are Who Dares, Where Or When and Druree. The first two are owned by the same owner.
All three are equally good speedsters. However, on handicap Who Dares seems to be having an edge over the other two. This will the sixth and last race of the day.
The ten-year-old blue-roan gelding, Millennium Count, who was beaten twice in his recent outings should make amends and win the supporting and fifth race of the card. The gelding, Millennium Count, owned by Munir Dar had almost won on Sunday Last but in a surprise burst of speed Lucky Murad pipped him at the finishing line. Racing pundits attributed Millennium Count’s defeat to bad riding by the riding boy, Anjum.
Although Millennium Count has been assigned a top weight of nine stone ten pounds, which undoubtedly is a heavy impost yet he being a weight career should make through to the winning box.
This is a class IV Div III handicap race.
The opener has only six runners, if there are no last-minute withdrawals. On handicap it should be a contesting ‘event.
Mystic was beaten on his first try out Sunday last and the connections must be looking for his making amends this time. He will however, have Oscar, Beautiful Bee and Sea Gul on his side to thwart his bid.
The second race has the biggest field of thirteen runners. Four of them look on chance, namely, Chan Badshah, Dogar’s Gift, Murad King and Manu Janu. On recent form Chan Badshah enjoys an edge over the others.
Russian Rythym, Mera Chandiwala, Princess Afaq and Sound Master are good in the third race.
They should fight to win the top honours.
Dazzy Gold, Jia jee and Nadar Prince are the fast animals in the ten runners drawn for the fourth race. If every thing goes his way Dazzy Gold should pick up the spoils.
