Four die in heavy rains

PESHAWAR, Aug 6: Four persons died and another two received injuries after a spell of heavy rains in Pattan, Kohistan district on Saturday. According to a daily report of the NWFP Relief Department, the district coordination officer (DCO) has been requested to release the compensation amount to the legal heirs of the dead and injured.

The irrigation division has warned that the Chitral river is in high flood and releasing 36,000 cusecs of water. However, it is said that the Swat river at Munda head works, the Kabul river at Nowshera and the Khiali river are in medium flood.

In Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, D.I.Khan, Chitral and Swat districts, the overall situation is normal.—APP
