Hasan named skipper

LAHORE, Aug 5: Middle order batsman, Hasan Raza, on Friday was named as captain of the 15-member Pakistan Academy team for the first four-day match against South African Academy, visiting Pakistan from Aug 8. Wicket-keeper Zulqarnain Haider will be his deputy. The first match will be played at National Stadium, Karachi from Aug 11.

The team was selected after a match played among 27 probables Between Lions and Tigers teams, at the Qadhafi Stadium on Friday.

Hasan, however, did not come to bat for Tigers who scored 279 for seven in 45 overs while batting first but failed to defend the total losing the match by five wickets as Lions achieved the target with fours balls to spare in 45-a-side-match.

Tigers 279 for seven wickets (Khurram Manzoor 103, Adnan Raza 54) Lions 283 for five wickets in 44.2 overs (Fawad 71 not out, Khalid Latif 77, Shahid Yousuf 96).
