KARACHI, Aug 4: Karachi University (KU) will take on Hamdard University (HU) in the opening match of PCB Inter-university cricket championship at National Stadium on Friday.

As many as 12 teams are drawn in three groups. KU, Hamdard, Baqai Medical, Ziauddin are placed in group ‘A’ and NED, Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Textile Institute of Pakistan, and Iqra University are form group ‘B’.

Sir Syed University of Engineering University, Urdu University, Institute of Business Administration (IBM) and Greenwich University are grouped in group ‘C’. Our Correspondent adds from Hyderabad: The first match of tournament will be played between Sindh University Jamshoro and Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam on Sunday.

Six universities are participating in the tournament from the Hyderabad region in two groups of ‘A’ and ‘B’. Shah Latif University Khairpur, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences and Quaid-i-Avam University Nawabshah are placed in group-A while group-B comprising Sindh University Jamshoro, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology and Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam.

The tournament would be played on league basis, the final of which would be played on Aug 13.
