RAWALPINDI, Aug 4: Pakistan Army defeated KRL 2-0 in an ill-tempered third place playoff match of the National Challenge Cup soccer at Army Stadium on Thursday with two players from both side receiving red cards. After a barren first session, soldiers grabbed the lead when Ehsan was on target in the 65th minute. Abid doubled the lead 15 minutes later.
Just a minute before the second goal, Abdur Rehman got marching orders from referee Younus Lal. Barely three minutes later, Gulzar Niazi of Army and Qadeer Khan of KRL were also sent off the field after a clash between the two.
In the last minute of play, Umer Daraz of Army was also ordered off the field. Wapda and PTCL will meet in the final on Friday.—APP
