Basketball: GCU lifts trophy

LAHORE, Aug 4: Nauman contributed 17 points to help Government College,University Lahore emerge as champions of the Lahore Division basketball championship, beating Don Bosco Club 66-45 in the final at the Islamia College, Civil Lines courts on Thursday.

The winners led the first half by a convincing margin 33-21 and increased it further by 33 pts before the final whistle. Nauman, a regular key-scorer throughout the tournament, continuing his terrific form exhibited fine dribbling to finally help his team annex the title. Besides Nauman, the other main contributors were Hammad (23), Ibraheem (12), Umar Butt (nine) and Raja (eight points). Zarman (13), Aneel (10), Hasan Butt (9) and Yasir (8) were the top scorers for the losers.
