‘Polling stations being shifted’

HYDERABAD, Aug 4: People’s Party Parliamentarians MPA from Thatta Sassui Palijo has alleged that Awam Dost Panel candidates for the local body election in the district are being harassed.

She also alleged that polling stations were being changed and shifted to guest houses of feudal lords and voters’ lists were not being provided to opposition parties.

She was speaking at a press conference at the press club here on Wednesday.

She charged that ADP candidates from Gharo, Dhabeji, Mirpur Sakro, Choubandi and other areas were being kidnapped to pressure them to withdraw from the contest. She further said ADP candidates were also being implicated in false cases.

Ms Palijo alleged that the father-in-law of Rafiq Khaskheli, a candidate for the seat of nazim of Choubandi, had been murdered. She said when a protest demonstration was held against the murder, the district police, instead of arresting the culprits, registered a case against 20 ADP candidates and other PPP leaders.

She said that due to the shifting of polling stations to guest houses and homes of feudal lords, voters of ADP candidates would not be allowed to enter the polling stations. She said that to protect the candidates from being kidnapped, they were being provided shelter at different places.

The PPP leader claimed that the ruling party, local feudal lords and advisers to the chief minister wanted to create bloodshed in the district.—Bureau
