MIRAMSHAH, Aug 4: An unidentified man was killed in a blast on the Ghulam Khan Road, some 10km north of here, on Wednesday night. Officials said that the man was planting a remote-controlled device on the road when it exploded, killing him on the spot.

The loud explosion rocked the nearby areas in the dead of night and created fear among the residents.

The security forces and political authorities rushed to the site and cordoned off the area. They took the body into custody and started investigations to establish the identity of the man.

Sources said that at least 200 trained men had infiltrated into the agency from the neighbouring Khost province of Afghanistan with designs to create a law and order situation and disturb peace in the tribal agency.
