KARACHI, Aug 3: The second “Vision Gwadar off road Freedom Rally” carrying prize money of rupees one million will be held near Gwadar on Aug 14, Amer Ishaq Soharwardi said on Wednesday.

“The basic purpose of the rally is to promote motor sports in Pakistan,” he told a joint news conference at Karachi Press Club with Ahmed Iqbal Baloch. Besides jeeps, for the first time car and motorbike events were also being introduced in the 100 kilometer race. A special 100km soft and dunes track from Kalmat located between Ormara and Pasni has been prepared for the event.

Three different categories in jeeps up to 2400 CC and above, cars up to 1600 CC and above and motorcycles 250 CC and above are allowed to participate in the race. The winners in each category will get Rs150,000 each.

Return air ticket to Karachi-London-Karachi, Karachi-Dubai- Karachi and a motorcycle would be given to runner-up in that category, organizers said. Last year Pakistan Army provided the security and this year, Pakistan Coast Guards and DG PCG will not only provide security but will also extend maximum cooperation for the Freedom Rally.

Registration fee for jeep, car and motorbike is Rs15,000, Rs10,000 and Rs5000.
