MUZAFFARABAD, Aug 3: The AJK government has chalked out a plan for the modernization of communication sector. The government has allocated a sum of Rs 1.348 billion in the current financial year. This was stated at the annual meeting to review development.
According to plan, Rs 115.775 million have been allocated for Neelum district, Rs 291.904 million for Muzaffarabad, Rs 169.413 million for Bagh, Rs 167.114 million for Poonch, Rs 92.148 million for Sudhnoti, Rs 247.553 million for Kotli, Rs 141.726 million for Mirpur and Rs 143.366 million for Bhimber.
In the roads sector 245km roads would be metalled and carpeted.
The participants were told that the link roads connecting Pakistan are being completed on priority basis to facilitate the large number of tourists to visit Azad Kashmir. This would also be helpful for easy transportation of forest wood, medicinal herbs, fruit and other agricultural food stuff into the different markets of Pakistan.
The works will also generate jobs for the people.
It was stated that a target has been fixed to construct an express highway from Muzaffarabad to Islamabad and also construct an RCC bridge on the River Jhelum at Azad Patan on which the work is in progress. An amount of Rs 950 million has been earmarked.
With the construction of this highway the people of three AJK districts — District Neelum, Muzaffarabad and Bagh — would have travelling facilities.—APP
