UK police seal off streets due to suspect bus

LONDON, Aug 2: British police sealed off an area around Kings Cross station in central London on Tuesday and said there was a bus in the area with smoke coming out of it. “I don’t think we should jump to any conclusions,” a police spokesman said, adding that a van from the bomb disposal unit was on its way to the scene as a precaution.

A spokesman for Transport For London (TFL), which oversees the city’s transit network, said the alert was on “a number 205 bus in the vicinity of Kings Cross”. “Emergency services are in attendance,” the spokesman said. “Buses are delayed. The tube (underground railway) is not affected at the moment.”

Television pictures showed a large area outside the station sealed off with police tape. Bystanders were crowded on the pavements and police were patrolling the area.—Reuters
