Babar’s heroics go in vain

LAHORE, Aug 2: Brothers Club, Government College, University, Lahore, and Don Bosco Club marched into the semifinals of the Lahore Division basketball championship at the Islamia College, Civil Lines, Lahore on Tuesday.

A major contribution from Amjad of 16 points and Umar Hayat (14) helped Brothers Club beat Khalid Club 69-68 in a thrilling match.

Hasan of the losing side, however, emerged as top scorer of the match by scoring 18 points.

Nineteen points by Nauman enabled Govt College University beat Defence Club 61-60.

Besides Nauman, the other contributors for the winners were Zaheer (12) and Raja (11).

Babar’s heroic performance of scoring 20 points went in vain for the losers whose Umar (13) was the other main scorer.

Yasir scored 15 points to enable Don Bosco Club to chalk out a convincing 49-38 win against F.C Club.

Husnain (13) and Shan (12) were the other key scorers. For the losing side, Salman (13) and Shehri (9) reduced the margin.

YMCA Club has already entered the last eight.
