Nomination papers of 487 candidates rejected: Local body polls in Mansehra

MANSEHRA, Aug 2: Out of about 2,500 nomination papers filed for different seats in 60 union councils of the district, 487 have been rejected and 2,007 accepted, according to the data available at the office of the assistant election commissioner Mansehra.
The hearing of appeals against the rejection of nomination papers is in progress.
In the district, 410 candidates had filed nomination papers for the posts of nazim and naib nazim, out of which 356 were accepted and 54 rejected.
For the seats of general councillors, 1,091 candidates had filed the papers, out of which 939 were accepted and 152 rejected.
For the seats reserved for women, 253 candidates had filed papers, of which 208 were accepted and 45 rejected.
For workers/peasants seats, 558 candidates had filed papers, of which 478 were accepted and 80 rejected.
For women workers/peasants seats, 200 candidates had filed papers, of which 171 were accepted and 29 rejected.
For the seats of minority communities, eight candidates had filed the papers, of which six were accepted and two rejected.
MANSEHRA TEHSIL: In 37 union councils of Mansehra tehsil, 262 candidates had filed the papers for the slots of nazim and naib nazim, of which 224 were accepted and 39 rejected.
For general councillors’ seats, 629 candidates had filed the papers, of which 513 were accepted and 116 rejected.
For women’s seats, 144 candidates had filed nominations, of which 115 were accepted and 29 rejected.
For the reserved seats for workers/peasants, 309 papers had been filed, of which 251 were accepted and 58 rejected.
For the seats of women workers/peasants, 112 candidates had filed the papers, out of which 93 were accepted and 19 rejected.
For the seats reserved for minorities, five candidates had filed nominations, of which three were accepted and two rejected.
BALAKOT TEHSIL: In 12 union councils of Balakot tehsil, 78 nomination papers had been filed for the slots of nazim and naib nazim, of which 72 were accepted and six rejected.
For general councillors’ seats, 275 candidates had filed the papers, of which 257 were accepted and 18 rejected.
For women’s seats, 68 candidates had filed the papers, of which 61 were accepted and seven rejected. For the seats reserved for workers/peasants, 157 candidates had filed nominations, out of which 146 were accepted and 11 rejected.
For women workers/peasants seats, 53 candidates had filed the papers, of which 50 were accepted and three rejected.
No one filed a nomination paper for the seats reserved for minorities in Balakot tehsil.
OGI TEHSIL: In 11 union councils of Ogi tehsil, 70 candidates had filed the papers for the slots of nazim and naib nazim, of which 60 were accepted and 10 rejected.
For general councillors’ seats, 187 candidates had filed nominations, of which 169 were accepted and 18 rejected.
For women’s seats, 41 candidates had filed the papers, out of which 32 were accepted and nine rejected. For the reserved seats for workers/peasants, 92 candidates had filed nominations, out of which 81 were accepted and 11 rejected.
For women workers/peasants seats, 35 candidates had filed the papers, out of which 28 were accepted and seven rejected.
For the seats reserved for minorities, three candidates had filed the papers and all of them were accepted.
