Deputy speaker’s petition admitted

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA August 2: A division bench of Balochistan High Court on Tuesday admitted for regular hearing a writ petition filed by deputy speaker Balochistan Assembly questioning appointments made in the assembly secretariat.

Petitioner Mir Aslam Bhootani has assailed recruitments made by respondent Speaker Jamal Shah Kakar in the assembly secretariat. He has taken plea that the appointments were made in violation of the rules and procedure.

The bench comprising Chief Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed and Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani directed issuance of notices to respondents for a date to be fixed by the office of the BHC.

HABEAS CORPUS CASE: The same bench disposed of petition of Samir against alleged arrest of his relative Gohram.

The federal government’s council placed on record a letter dated July 24, 2007 addressed to him on behalf of sector commander Inter Services Intelligence Balochistan that none of the federal agency had ever apprehended the missing person.

Additional advocate general also made a similar statement and said that no material had been produced on behalf of petitioner to indicate that Gohram had been kept in confinement.
