QUETTA, Aug 1: A division bench of the Balochistan High Court on Monday suspended the provincial government’s notification regarding delimitation of union councils in Lehri tehsil of Sibi district. The bench comprising Chief Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed and Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani, while admitting a petition against the notification for Hearing, ordered that its implementation remained under suspension till further orders.

The petitioners, Chaudhry Mohammad Arif, Mujibullah and Syed Ghafoor Shah, submitted that increase in the number of union councils in the tehsil from three to six was illegal as the notification was issued one day before the announcement of the election schedule.
