LAHORE, July 31: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has proceeded against 82 government officials for misuse of authority and corruption on the basis of Chief Minister’s Inspection Team’s inquiry reports.

This was disclosed by CMIT Minister Col Shuja Khanzada (retired) while presiding over a meeting held here for reviewing the CMIT performance.

The minister said the inspection team had completed inquiries into 210 cases and submitted reports to the chief minister with its recommendations.

He said the chief minister was informed that the team had inspected 115 ongoing development projects in communications and works, health, irrigation, education and agriculture sectors and submitted reports in respect of corruption and use of sub-standard material.

Mr Khanzada said the team had also completed 18 special tasks entrusted to it by the chief minister and submitted recommendations to him.

The minister directed team members to complete pending inquiries expeditiously so that officials involved in corruption and misuse of authority could be proceeded against.

The meeting was also attended by CMIT chairman Arsalan Khan and members.
