BANNU, July 31: Expelling foreign students from the madressahs would be illegal, said Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal president Qazi Hussain Ahmad, while talking to the journalists here on Sunday.

Qazi Hussain said the foreign students getting religious education in the country were not involved in any anti-state activity. He accused the government of following the directives of the US and UK against the Islamic institutions. “The government is interfering with the seminaries at the behest of the US and UK,” he said.

The MMA president said any action against the students would be in breach of the law of the country, adding that the alliance would organize a movement to save the madressahs. “We will organize a ‘save madressahs’ convention in August,” he declared.

NWFP Senior Minister Sirajul Haq and Senator Prof Ibrahim Khan were also present on the occasion.
