KARACHI: Clarification


KARACHI, July 31: The Karachi Ports Trust has denied the allegations made in a news item captioned ‘Mangroves being ruined, land sold at high price,’ which appeared in Dawn’s July 25 issue.

In a clarification, the KPT said it was taking all steps within its means to preserve mangroves and hoped that with the help of the Sindh government and concerned citizens it would be able to overcome the hindrances created by people involved in land grabbing. The KPT alleged that some influential people had illegally built resort-like compounds, damaging the mangroves on the shores in the Clifton and DHA areas.
