Bang On Target day’s best bet

KARACHI, July 30: Thoroughbred bay mare Bang On Target will start as our day’s best in the Summer Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday. Owned by Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara and trained by Mumtaz Ali, the five-year-old horse is pitted against six contenders in the six furlongs fifth race of afternoon. With jockey Muhammad Essa in the saddle, Bang On Target romped home by three lengths in the July 3 meeting.

Three year old filly Patricia who posted one and a half length victory on July 24, and three year old bay colt Arab Hi Arab looks certain to fight for second and third places. As many as nine races, seven going through five furlongs and the remaining two to six, have been chalked out for the day. The first race begins at 1.00 pm.

On The Run, the six-year-old bay horse, should win the first race of the day with thirteen horses’ in the fray. Dushtiyani and She Is magic were favourites to finish amongst top three.

Half-bred bay mare Roop Ki Rani who was piloted home to victory by jockey Sohail Ahmed on July 17, is poised to win the second race. She will be followed by Knock First and Piyari Mehbooba.

Four-year-old filly Clapping should run away with the third race. He is likely to be chased home by Silver Sweet and Lucky View for second and third positions. The fourth race should be dominated by three-year-old colt Fascinate. Welcome Pehchino and Knight Fighter will fight for the minor placings.

To be ridden by jockey M. Manzoor, bay mare Sonia is tipped to emerge victorious in the sixth race. Order Of The Day and Issey Miyke were strong contenders for the remaining two positions.

With Riaz Muhammad in the saddle, nine year old grey horse Bilal Choice looks certain to win the seventh race. Arabian Queen and Princess Javeria will battle it out for the other two positions.

Fantastic Again and Donatello should win the eighth and ninth races.
