LAHORE, July 30: The half-bred, three-year-old bay colt, Phoenix, with two impressive victories and a second on the trot, looks day’s best when the Lahore Summer Meeting gets under way at the Lahore Racecourse on Sunday.
Contesting in the fifth race in a card of seven races, this son of Rambo Touch out-of-Wind Sharp, Phoenix may, however, have three-year-old filly Little Hut and veteran Green Hill, constant thorns in his side going over the sprinting distance of 1100 metres.
Phoenix, after winning two back-to-back races, was beaten by a prized filly, Miss Photogenic in his previous outing. In all probabilities he should make it to the winning box in this class V division I handicap race.
Top weight Millennium Count, who was beaten to second place in his previous outing Sunday last, should make amends this time and win laurels in the sixth race over 1100 metres.
The gelding, aged not a day less than ten years is in good form.
The grey gelding should be followed by Green Street and Lucky Murad over the distance.
Where Or When, a good bay mare, who won a race in style Sunday last should make it two in-a-row when appearing in the feature event, a class IV division I & II combined handicap race to be gone over 1100 metres.
Her owner has two runners in this race, Who Dares as well. He has engaged his stable rider, A. Aziz on Who Dares but as far as the form goes, When Or Where looks better on form and handicap. He is being ridden by novice Sajjad Hussain.
Similarly, an owner has two horses in the fourth race, Cross Ruff and Over Trick, who are on chance.
The track work of Over Trick is far better than those nine entered for the event. A card of seven events has been drawn for the afternoon programme.
All races will be contested over 1100 metres. The first race will be held at 2pm.
