RAWALPINDI, July 30: The Civil Judge, Rawalpindi, Rafaqat Ali Gondal, on Saturday suspended the forthcoming elections of District Cricket Association, Rawalpindi. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), through a July 25 letter to secretary of DCA, Rawalpindi, had set Aug 2 as the election date for the district cricket body.

However, Zaheer Ahmed, president of Potohar Cricket Club, and 10 others had moved the court, praying that elections be suspended till the disposal of their appeals against being declared ineligible by a scrutiny committee of PCB.

In his order, the Civil Judge also instructed the PCB to ensure that there was sufficient time between the disposal of appeals by the concerned clubs against the decisions ofPCB Scrutiny Committee and conduct of elections. The court set Aug 9 as the next date of hearing.—APP
