QUETTA, July 30: Provincial Home Minister Mir Shoaib Nausherwani has said that Frontier Corps’ checkposts in the province have been removed as per recommendations of the parliamentary committee and the federal security agency would curb smuggling and stop the entry of terrorists at border areas.
Speaking at a press conference in the press club on Saturday, he said that 1,800 locals, particularly Baloch, had been recruited who would complete their training by September to perform their duty.
Mir Nausherwani claimed that long-standing issues had also been resolved in view of the recommendations of the parliamentary committee saying a sub-committee was formed to implement the aforementioned committee suggestions related to province quota in the federal services, gas royalty, etc.
He stated that the provincial chief secretary would be a member of the sub-committee that would directly work under the supervision of the prime minister and added that the committee’s task would be to monitor implementation of the parliamentary committee’s recommendations.
The home minister said that President Musharraf’s positive step has ended the old tradition of neglecting Balochistan in the uplift programme and to deny its just rights in federal and provincial matters.
He said that the provincial government had given employment to 1,000 doctors and 600 engineers and added that 250 veterinary doctors would be accommodated wherein major share allocated in the federal PSDP for Balochistan were steps that would remove the grievances of the province.
About charges by nationalist political groups that youths were detained illegally the home minister said that no innocent person would be kept behind bars and that he would take up the matter with the quarters concerned.
He also visited the hunger-strike camp established by the Asghar Ali Bungulzai family members against the detention of Asghar Ali and assured them that he would discuss the issue with the officials and inform them about the matter on Sunday.
Responding to another question, he said that during the crackdown on extremist religious activists about 90 of them were arrested whereas 20 of them were later released after interrogation.
