Tennis: Dilawar elected ATF VP

By Our Sports Reporter

ISLAMABAD, July 29: Pakistan tennis chief, Syed Dilawar Abbas has been elected as the vice-president (South Asia) of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) in elections held in Bangkok on Friday.

Secretary of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Rashid Khan told Dawn on telephone from Bangkok that Dilawar was also elected as a member of the 10-man ATF Board of Directors that elects the office-bearers of the federation. India’s Anil Khanna became the new president.

Dilawar and Rashid have been in Thailand for the past few days where the Annual General Meeting of the ATF also took place. Rashid said that Dilawar’s election on the Asian body will help Pakistan tennis in more than one ways. “It is a great success and we are all delighted.” The two officials are due to return home shortly.
