Protest against Hesco

SUKKUR, July 29: A large number of people held a protest demonstration here on Friday in protest against Hesco following prolonged loadshedding and power failure.

More than 100 protesters from to New Pind and other areas took out a protest procession and burnt tyres on the Racecourse road, Military road and Ayub gate.

They said Hesco officials had suspended power in their areas for hours due to which they were facing hardships in the sizzling hot season.

They said as the summer season had started Hesco had resorted to unannounced loadshedding while frequent power failure has become a routine.

They said hours-long shutdown were also on the rise which was adding to miseries of the people.

SE (operation) Sadoro Shaikh said the protesters reached the circle office, Hesco Sukkur, on the Minara road and tried to enter the office of the chief engineer.

He said the guard intercepted the mob on this they had scuffled and tried to attack the guard on this fired aerially after which police reached on the scene, after which the protestors dispersed peacefully.

He said transformers at the city grid station were overloaded, due to which Hesco was compelled to loadshedding.

He said the crisis would be over in a day or two after which smooth power supply to citizens would be ensured.
