Withdrawal date extended

ISLAMABAD, July 28: The Election Commission on Thursday extended till July 29 the date to receive applications for withdrawal of candidature from candidates in the first phase of local body elections. According to the Election Commission, Acting Chief Election Commissioner Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar has extended the date to facilitate candidates in withdrawal of their candidature.

The returning officers in four provinces will now receive requests for withdrawals of candidature till midnight on July 29. Consequently, the lists of contesting candidates along with symbols allotted to them will now be published on July 30 by the returning officers of the first phase of local elections.—APP
